Almond Poppy Seed Bread with Orange Butter Glaze

I am totally hooked to anything with almond flavoring. So, when I was searching for a recipe to use in the Clabber Girl Baking Powder Iron Chef Challenge, I asked my mom if she had a great recipe with almond flavoring. She suggested I make a poppy seed bread with orange flavors.DSC_0515I am addicted. Completely.
Start by adding a stick of softened butter and two cups of sugar to your mixing bowl.DSC_0856Cream together.DSC_0857Add three eggs and mix some more.DSC_0859When the eggs are incorporated, add a cup and a half of milk.DSC_0860DSC_0862Add a half a cup of vegetable oil and about a teaspoon of orange zest.DSC_0865Then add a teaspoon of almond extract and a teaspoon and a half of vanilla.DSC_0867Then combine your dry ingredients; three cups of flower, a teaspoon and a half of baking powder and salt, and three tablespoons of poppy seeds.DSC_0869Pour into batter and mix until just blended.DSC_0870DSC_0873Pour into two loaf pans. Don’t fill over 2/3 full.DSC_0874Bake for about an hour on 350 degrees.DSC_0883Now, for the glaze…in one bowl combine 1/4 cup OJ, 1/2 teaspoon almond extract and vanilla extract.DSC_0881Melt two teaspoons of butter in another bowl.eAdd two cups of powdered sugar to the butter and stir together.DSC_0885Pour OJ mixture into sugar and butter and stir until completely smooth.DSC_0886Poke holes to the top of the cooled bread and pour glaze over top.DSC_0888Pure bliss. Dessert. Breakfast. Snack. Bliss.DSC_0524
