Ooey-Gooey Popcorn is made with marshmallow cream, theater popcorn, and more butter for a sweet and salty marshmallow popcorn snack. This popcorn snack is like popcorn balls in a large bowl.
Ooey-Gooey Popcorn Ingredients
This sweet and salty popcorn snack is not a snack you should make if you are trying to cut calories. The ingredients for this marshmallow popcorn treat are the buttery, sugary, salty things we love about a good snack.
Here are the ingredients for the marshmallow popcorn snack:
- Popcorn - Of course, if I am going to be unhealthy, I can't just be a little unhealthy. I have to go extra butter unhealthy popcorn.
- Butter - And this recipe doesn't lack for butter. Popcorn is always better with butter.
- Marshmallows - Mini marshmallows work best, but if you only have the large ones, they will work too.
- Brown sugar - Oh, be still my taste buds.
How to Make Ooey-Gooey Popcorn
Melt, stirring constantly until marshmallows are melted and the sauce is nice and smooth.
Pour your popcorn into a large bowl that you will be able to stir the popcorn. Then, pour the ooey-gooey sweetness over top.
People, this is a hot, gooey mess. Do not put your finger on the pouring sauce. Please. It will blister your finger. I may or may not have a blister to prove it.
Expect children to devour it. Expect adults with no self-restraint to eat this till their guts hurt. Literally. Holy goodness.

That looks so good. I used to make popcorn cake all the time when I was a kid. It is great with june-jubes or gummy bears in it, and I would use a Angel Food cake pan.

did not like this recipe. way too sweet. i thought the topping would stay soft and gooey like suggest, but it gets rock hard like a sugar candy.
Jess
I would suggest a bit more butter, play with the recipe. I tend to only make it around Halloween into popcorn balls but they stay nice and soft

Anybody know how to get Ooey Gooey out of a keyboard?

I'm about to make this! I am going to add just a pinch of cayenne pepper to add a smidge of spice.

Although I haven't made this in a while,I came up with this same so called recipe years ago. I am a mom (my sons are now adults) & I thought of how you make popcorn balls & since I love popcorn,I decided to just pour the melted butter & marshmallows over the popcorn in a bowl. Then you mix well & eat it right away while it is still warm. I must say that I haven't tried it with the brown sugar. I also believe it would be too sweet. But my making it my way, it's very good.

This is absolutely fabulous. I made into popcorn balls and drizzled with semi-sweet chocolate. My co-workers will be very happy when I show up at work with these today. Thanks for the post.

This recipe is bomb! But for perfection add about a 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract once the marshmallow, butter, and brown sugar are melted and hot. And salt the popcorn just a little bit before you pour the topping on. Amazing!
