New Year's Eve is all about celebrating with bubbly cocktails and toasting new beginnings. This year, impress your guests with a lively cranberry limoncello champagne cocktail that balances tart and sweet flavors. The sparkling effervescence of champagne, tangy cranberry, and bright citrus makes every sip fabulous.
The tart cranberries and bright lemon-lime flavors play beautifully against the dry, crisp bubbles of champagne. Each bubbly sip starts with a sweet kiss of limoncello followed by a punch of cranberry tartness and citrusy finish. I love a cocktail made with prosecco or champagne as you have seen with the cranberry orange champagne cocktail.

Ingredients for the Cranberry Limoncello Champagne Cocktail
To make this party-perfect cocktail, you will need:
- One 750mL bottle of extra dry prosecco or champagne, chilled - Any sparkling wine will work for this. If you are looking for a good recommendation that you can buy in a local liquor store or grocery store, I recommend the Mumm Napa Cuvee.
- Cranberry juice - The 100% juice version of cranberry juice is what I usually use, but I used cranberry cocktail juice for this cocktail.
- limoncello
- Fresh cranberries and lemon wheels for garnish
See recipe card for quantities.
Instructions - How to make a champagne cocktail?
Start by chilling a bottle of brut champagne for at least 2 hours before preparing the drinks.
Next, pour the cranberry juice and limoncello into a champagne flute or Colins glass and stir to combine.
Top off each glass with the chilled prosecco or champagne. Garnish with cranberries and lemon slices.
To make this cocktail in a large batch, mix the cranberry juice and limoncello in a measuring cup or small pitcher. Then when ready to serve to your guests, stir the combination and pour into the champagne flutes, and top it off with the prosecco.
Hint: Chill the cranberry juice and limoncello before serving too. This will make the cocktail as cold as possible.
Variations to Champaign Cocktail Recipes
Here are some variations to the cranberry limoncello champagne cocktail recipe:
- Use different citrus liqueurs: substitute limoncello with other citrus liqueurs like grapefruit, orange, or triple sec.
- Use different juices: instead of cranberry juice, try pomegranate, peach, mango, or apple juice.
- Use different berries: replace the cranberries with raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries. Muddle fresh berries into the juice mixture.
- Infuse with herbs: add some fresh herbs like rosemary, basil, or thyme to the limoncello or juice mixture. Let steep for at least 2 hours.
- Spice it up: add a dash of ginger syrup or liqueur, or a pinch of cinnamon or cardamom to the juices.
- Make an elderflower version: use St. Germain elderflower liqueur and top with cava or prosecco instead of champagne.
- Add fresh fruit: use sliced citrus, berries, or other fruits as creative garnishes. Skewer fruits on a cocktail pick.
- Use different bubbly: besides champagne, try prosecco, cava, sparkling rosé, or sparkling white wines.
- Make non-alcoholic: use non-alcoholic brut sparkling juice, club soda, or ginger ale and eliminate the limoncello.

Home Bar Equipment
Having a well stocked home bar makes life easier with all the essential items in your home bar. You can find all my favorite home bar essentials in my Amazon storefront.
Storage
Leftover juice and limoncello combination can be refrigerated for a couple of days. The champagne or prosecco may be more complex to keep. You can use a champagne stopper and keep your champagne in the refrigerator for a day or two. The effervescence will reduce.
Top tip for the best cocktails
Having all your cocktail mixers in the fridge will make for a more flavorful cocktail. This includes both the juices and limoncello. I also keep my vodka, gin, and tequila in the fridge.
