The ingredients for my version of the apple dump cake in the crock pot are very similar to an oven-baked dump cake.

cake mix

How to Make Apple Dump Cake in the Crock Pot?

The prep time for this recipe is next to nothing. You literally just keep dumping the ingredients one right after the other. I used a casserole crock pot for this recipe, but I am sure it would work in a traditional crock pot as well.

Start by dumping both cans of apple pie filling in the greased crock pot.

Then dump the yellow cake mix evenly over the apple pie filling. On top of the dry cake mix, sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon as well as the pecan pieces. Finish by pouring melted butter over the top of the entire dump cake.

Then cook on high for 2-3 hours. I went ahead after hour two and put a towel across the crock pot to absorb moisture and then placed the lid back on. Turn to low until ready to eat.

While this is an amazing dessert all by its lonesome, no one should eat crock pot apple dump cake with pecans without ice cream. The combination of vanilla ice cream with the slow cooked apple pie dump cake creates a perfect fall flavor with each bite. Go ahead and add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to the top of the hot dump cake.

And caramel sauce. Drizzle caramel sauce over the apple dump cake take this dessert recipe completely over the top.

2 cans 20-ounce can of Apple Pie Filling
1 box yellow cake mix, 15.25 ounce box
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup pecan pieces
8 tablespoons butter, one stick
