Why do moms have the need to apologize when they do something fun with their girlfriends on a school night? Don't moms deserve a break from work and home and everything in between?
Why is that a martini with the gals after work seems impossible to get for most working moms? I think my Outlook calender needs a reoccurring appointment with my gal pals and a French martini.
Yep, that there is a French Martini. Love that our restaurant of choice for gals night out was having half price martinis. But it also means we are getting to have those in depth conversations with our pals that get our joys and frustrations. The stress of being working mothers, wives, daughters, best friends, volunteer of the year all while remembering to slap some lipstick on and wiping the dried boogers off our best pair of black pants before heading into the most important meeting of our lives.
Of course when working gals get together, all smart phones are on deck. All in a state somewhere between glee and guilt. We feel glee for being with the women who make us feel like we are individuals again. Guilt because we know we have people at home who are waiting for us to bust through the door.
But sometimes a woman just needs her friends. A woman just needs some time to get side tracked into a side conversation with a bff because we haven't seen each other in way too long. Forget the fact that we only live 20 miles apart. Life is busy.
And sometimes it is fun to split dessert. Calories don't count if you share.
And as if we can't function without taking pictures to capture the memory in the days and weeks and months to come before we do it all again, we pull out our cameras.
We cringe at the thought of having our picture taken. But that is what we all do, capture memories behind the lens of our cameras.
And when you have a great waitress, she volunteers to take your group picture so no one is left out.
Now, that is a great night out with my fellow farmwives. For this, I am thankful.
So what do you dream about doing with your girlfriends for a break from reality, even if for only two hours?

I agree with Liz - can we schedule another one?! I had a great time and appreciated the "break" from reality.

I was busy with a school function, so if another one is scheduled, let me know. I'm still working the calendar to make it to our brunch. Somehow Tink has an orthodontist appt. at 8:20. UGH! May just have to reschedule that! A girl has to do what a girl has to do.
The Durrer Family
Nothing better than a few hours of quality girl time - I'm going to have to give your French martini a try! ๐

I love you ladies. I dream of a longer time together. I think all the farmwives, friends and gal pals need a retreat together with French martinis.
