Many times, people will ask what a recipe is for something I have made. Unfortunately, many times it is truly a little of this and little of that. Especially when it comes to a hunk of meat in a crock pot. I have a honed a few recipes and pretty much know what the recipe is now. But, I rarely make the same exact thing twice. Just ask my husband. So, for anyone who has wondered what my secrets are, I am revealing the first portion tonight. I show you my spice cabinet.
OK, so I have more than a cabinet. I have a cabinet and then a lazy susan full of spices, baking, and cooking supplies. I go a bit over board. Now, I don't recommend having this much crap. I am also assuming everyone has salt, pepper and garlic salt. I recommend the basics. Beware: The Beyers like it HOT.
First the liquids:
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Tabasco-My preference is Chipotle
- Liquid Smoke-If this is new to you it sold in the same aisle as Tabasco
For the dry:
- Seasoning salt-I have several different brands. Lawry's is always safe.
- Garlic Powder
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Cayenne Pepper
- Chilli Powder
- Curry Powder
- McCormick Montreal Chicken
- McCormick Montreal Steak
So, I must fess up. I am slightly obsessed with McCormick's Grill Mates seasonings. I use the Grill Mates for more than just grilling. I also love the vegetable seasonings. I use it in lots of the vegetable casseroles we all love.
Kroger recently had the small bottles on sale for 3 for $5. I told you, I love them. I know the small bottles are hard to see. So, I got a close up for all the curious minds.
Watch for recipes with the basics. They are coming soon. Also, I will fill you in on the pantry basics. Again, I have a walk in closet for a pantry, so I will par it down.

Stopping by from NFFriday. Funny you should be posting about spices b/c I just recently posted a dilemma we were having in our new kitchen and so to solve the problem we are adding a pullout spice cabinet. Which by no means will hold all of my stuff. Lucky for me our new kitchen has 2 lazy susans. Anyway, I have never tried the grill mates. I may just have to pick my self up a few. If you were to choose which one would you say you use the most? I would like to change things up a bit. We usually use Lawry's on everything. Spicy is ok! Stop by my blog and join if you have a chance.

I keep my spices in the lazy susan, too! Works so great!

My spice cabinet looks pretty similar minus the hot stuff. The HHBL has a weak stomach! I love the grilling season because I get to use my spices more often!

How did I miss this post? I am a spice lover with lazy susan built for my spices! I do splurge on an order from Penzey's for a few essentials but love the big sized Sam's Club spices too.
